About Salou

Salou is a municipality located on the Costa Dorada, in the province of Tarragona, 10 km from the capital of the province and 8 km from the city of Reus. Salou is considered the capital of the Costa Dorada since it is the most important tourist destination of the region and one of the main tourist destinations in Spain.

Founded by the Greeks in the 6th century BC and considered an outstanding commercial port in antiquity, Salou became an important tourist centre throughout the 20th century, and it has kept this status until today, culminating in the administrative independence of Salou at the end of the year 1989, and the construction of Port Aventura at the end of the century, when the urban development reached its climax.

Salou has a typical Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and hot summers, which is perfect for the development of the tourist and commercial activity of the area.
